Located on the Sunshine Coast the Noosa District Rugby Union Club have recently installed a 15 kW solar system to combat their rising electricity costs. With the Club’s numbers growing each year the forward thinking committee looked into the viability of a solar system to reduce the increasing operational costs.
The Club’s energy loads include a consistent base load by running large cold rooms, irrigation and lighting of both the buildings and training fields. GoZERO have sized the system to meet the daylight hour usage patterns of the club and to maximise the consumption from the system generation. As part of the overall service, GoZERO assisted the operations team to change some activities including time of irrigation and pumping, to improve the efficiency of the solar system.
GoZERO’s engineering analysis demonstrated significant financial benefits from the installation of a 15 kW solar photo-voltaic (PV) system. GoZERO forecasts a reduction in the Club’s electricity costs by 30% in the first year alone.
With an expected life of over 20 years, the solar system will provide many more years of savings on electricity costs as grid prices continue to rise. The Solar PV system was a natural choice for the environmentally conscious club and with the financial benefits also stacking up it became a clear decision to proceed.
The combination of GoZERO’s best industry practices and ongoing support: engineered design, CEC accredited installation, Tier 1 PV panels and GoZERO guarantees on top of any manufacturer guarantees, provides peace of mind that the solar system is performing as expected.
System size - 15kW
Average Club daily kWh usage - 170 kWh
Average daily generation - 66 kWh
Annual electricity savings* - $4,573 (80% consumed)
*Expected savings are estimates based on current retailer electricity costs and predicted future costs.Testimonial by President of Noosa District Rugby Union Club Inc.
"From the quotation through to completion of the install the process was professionally handled and we have been very happy with our dealings with Tom McVerry and his contractors. We are excited to have this opportunity to not only help generate clean energy but to also reduce the running costs of our club. This will allow us to put the savings back into the club for the benefit of all the members. I could recommend Tom and GoZERO to any other organisation considering a similar project."
